Making Invitations

This year is the first year that Eric and I agreed to have a "friend/family" birthday party for Camilla. She turned 8 on the 27th of July. She has been excited about this birthday party for several weeks and decided a few months ago that she wanted a Raggedy Ann themed party. So set out to find Raggedy Ann supplies...and didn't have luck finding any that were in my price range. So I decided to use things we had to make invitations! Yes, you read this correctly I MADE THEM MYSELF!!
I have a few good friends that are amazing card makers and I appreciate their talents and have enjoyed using the cards they have made for me to write in and send to others. I feel like I am all thumbs when I try to do anything crafty or homemade, even though I love the way homemade crafts look..when they are made in someone else's home.
So below you will find the sampling of my first homemade invitations:My red table work space
The first finished invite

The other side of the invite.

Notice the date....
Thankfully, Dawn informed me before I sent any others out. I don't know why I put September??!! I am so thankful for computers and the ability to quickly change one word.

The corrected version.

The finished product and cleaned workspace..

All ready to be delivered.
Stay tuned for pictures of the PARTY!!!
Camilla and I were going to do these together, but she tired out on me before I could finish the first one. I guess she is more like me than I realized. At least Raggedy Ann stayed around to give me good KARMA.
I will not be going in to the card making business....just in case you were thinking of making an order, hee, hee!!!

IN NEED OF A RICK FIX

I noticed the other day that my Rick Springfield t-shirt is fading and the signature is almost non-existent. The last time I saw him was 4 years ago a little over a month before moving here to Utah..I checked to see the exact date on my beloved poster which hangs in my kitchen
I think this is the longest I have gone without going to a Rick Springfield concert since 1999. I first saw him in 1984 with Lisa and Birthe..then from 1999 to 2005 I saw him a total of 10 times. So, I am really in need of a Rick fix. I'm in WANT of a Rick Concert and a NEW T-SHIRT!!! I'm just trying to figure out how to put it in to our budget.....hmmm
The closest place he'll be to me this year is Wendover, NV. Stay tuned to see how I handle my addiction........................

Travel

Yesterday I took my friend, Dawn, to lunch for her birthday. We have not been able to get together and leave Payson in a very long time. So we went to Spanish Fork (Which is about 5 miles north of Payson) for lunch at Jaxies..it was delish. We laughed and talked and enjoyed our time away. We also took a drive which led us south of Payson to Santequin, (5 miles south of Payson). Still talking, enjoying our time together and checking out all the landscaped yards that we could find.

When I returned home. I was greeted by our daughters who are both named Camilla and are best of friends just like their mothers. They were deep in play and dressed to the hilt..so I asked them what they were doing. They informed me that they were travelling, they were in Mexico and then Argentina. I just had to take their picture:

Then a while later they came walking upstairs on their way to another destination of the world..CHINA! My Camilla informed me that they were in China staying with a Chinese friend who speaks english because they do not speak chinese. I asked if I could take their picture and this is what I got:

As they continued on, after their photo was taken; they began to talk to each other about returning home. They said they had been gone a long time and that now it was time to go home.
So as I watched them descend the stairs back to their home I thought of how Dawn and I had enjoyed our little get away which took us to the far away places of Spanish Fork and Santequin and how our girl's seemed to manage to travel the WORLD in just a little over an hour!!! I was also in awe of how they were dressed for their travels and I made a mental note that the next time Dawn and I venture out on a little trip away from Payson perhaps we should do it with the style of our daughters and find some amazing HATS to wear. I bet that would make it even more of an adventure!!! How I love these beautiful little girls and the fun they have together. How I love Camilla Rose's mother, Dawn, and the fun we have together. Happy birthday my sweet friend; I hope it was a magical day for you even though I did not take you to CHINA.

Family Reunion

We attended a Sanders family reunion over the fourth of July weekend. I just have a few shots that I thought I'd post. The first one is of my baby brother, Danny and our baby, Neal..I just thought this was a great shot!

Some of my cousins...Clista, Darwin, Maxine and her husband, Scott, standing behind is Darwin's son and Jeri...These are all my aunt Maurine's children.

Uncle Robert, Aunt Marie, Aunt Maurine, dad and standing is Aunt Dorothy. We sure missed Uncle Deon at this reunion. These are the sons and daughters of John F. and Venna May Sanders. Uncle Deon passed away in January of this year and Aunt Marie is his wife.

Camilla and Kaitlyn (John and Stacey's daughter)
We had lots of fun visiting with family members that we don't get to see except at reunions. Hopefully we can see each other before the next reunion. I think Uncle Robert said 144 were in attendance.

Earth Song

I put Earth Song on my playlist. It is a Michael Jackson song and I had not heard it until his death. I really like it and so I decided to add it to my blog. I seem to find myself thinking about this song during the day as I'm working.

I danced to Michael Jackson in my single days and married and with children..I have walked to MJ on my treadmill and I used to wake up to him on our walls growing up. My sister, Bev, was a big fan. He was an extremely talented person. I don't claim to understand him at all, but I definitely, like many others in our world, was affected by him.

I can remember when Elvis died and how it affected the world, my mom was a fan so I grew up listening to him and I enjoyed him and still do. I suppose that Michael affected even more people in the world because of MTV and all the charity work he did. It's just too bad that so many of the most talented people in our world are so troubled. At least he left us some great music!

Project

Today I had a project to complete to prepare for tomorrow. Tomorrow is a clothing exchange put on by the LDS stake that my sister,Bev is in. I've been gathering gently used clothing that others have given us and we either can't wear or is not our style. As well, I went through our closets to see what we could pass along. Not too many kids clothes because my sisters and I pass our children's clothing around to each other. So below is the beginning of my project...Spencer put all of the containers and bags out in the garage for me.
I then went through everything and sorted by size, men's, women's and some shoes.

Then I bagged everything and wrote on the bags the contents and sizes.

Then loaded everything in to the back of Bev's van. There are a few things that I'm passing to Bev and returning to Bev, but the majority of the contents are for the exchange.

It feels really good to be passing these things out of my home and garage and hopefully someone else will get good use out of these clothes, shoes etc.
Tomorrow the project is to go to the exchange and look for some things that are needed for my kids, husband and me. It is a great way to save money and recycle and to be honest it just really feels good inside. My sisters and I have been sharing clothes among ourselves since we were single at home, then we began doing that when we had babies and have continued. I don't think I have bought one single item of clothing for Neal yet..I have purchased some socks and hats...but that's it as far as clothes. I have purchased very little for Spencer, Camilla, Eric and I as well since Bev told us about this exchange. This will be my third year attending; I really look forward to it.
Okay..I'm off to make dinner.
